TikTok engagement rate calculator
TikTok engagement rate by views is (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100. Enter one video's numbers, or totals for several, and you get both the by-views and the by-followers rate. In our October 2026 measurement of 12 brand accounts, the median by views was 2.24%.

What this calculator does
It turns the numbers TikTok shows under a video (views, likes, comments, shares) and the account's follower count into two engagement rates, and tells you where the by-views rate sits against brand accounts we measured. Everything is calculated in your browser, so it is free, needs no account and works for any public or private video whose numbers you can see. To analyze a whole account automatically, use the TikTok profile analyzer below.
The two formulas
Engagement rate by views
(likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100
How many viewers reacted. It is the fairer way to compare videos and accounts on TikTok, because most views come from the For You feed rather than from followers. For several videos, the calculator divides total interactions by total views; our benchmarks use the median of per-video rates.
Engagement rate by followers
(likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100
Interactions per video relative to audience size; with totals, interactions are first divided by the number of videos. Useful to follow one account over time, but it swings with account size: small accounts often score far higher than large ones.
What is a good TikTok engagement rate?
By views, 2% to 4% is the usual range in our data: below 2% is low, above 4% is high. These are measurements Nolyn took from public TikTok data, not industry averages from elsewhere.

@owala (US drinkware brand, 830.7K followers)
Median by views of 30 videos posted Aug 27–Oct 12, 2026 (range 1.74–11.86%); likes ÷ followers 0.13%
We don't give a benchmark for the by-followers rate. In the same 12 accounts, median likes ÷ followers ran from 12.5% for an account with 40 followers to 0.052% for one with 577K, so that rate mostly reflects account size. Compare it only with accounts of similar size, or with your own past videos.

The TikTok profile analyzer reads a public account's last 30 videos and gives you the engagement rate per video, the top and weakest videos, and the posting rhythm, with the numbers behind each one. It needs a free Nolyn account.
FAQ
How do you calculate TikTok engagement rate?
By views: add likes, comments and shares, divide by views and multiply by 100. By followers: divide the same sum by the follower count instead. For an account, calculate the rate for each recent video and take the median, so one viral or one flop video does not skew the result.
What is a good engagement rate on TikTok?
By views, 2% to 4% is the usual range in our data. The median of 12 Japanese brand accounts we measured on October 16, 2026 was 2.24% (239 videos), and US brand @owala's median over 30 videos was 3.72%. Above 4% is high; below 2% is low.
Should I use views or followers?
Use views to compare accounts or videos. TikTok shows videos to non-followers, so the by-followers rate depends heavily on account size: in our sample it ranged from 12.5% for a 40-follower account to 0.052% for a 577K-follower account. The by-followers rate is fine for tracking your own account over time.
Is this TikTok engagement calculator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no signup and sends nothing anywhere. Only the full account analyzer, which fetches the videos for you, needs a free Nolyn account.
Do saves count?
This calculator uses likes, comments and shares, which TikTok shows publicly on every video and which our benchmarks use. Saves are visible on many videos too; if you add them yourself, your rate will not be comparable with the benchmarks above.
