Amazon review analysis

Amazon review analyzer: what buyers praise, what they complain about, and how often

Paste an ASIN or product link. Nolyn reads the listing and its top reviews, counts praise and complaints by aspect, shows where the negative mentions cluster and tells you what to stress or fix on the listing.

What you get

Star split and counts by aspect

The share of each star rating and how many reviews praise or criticize aspects such as effectiveness, noise or cleaning. You see where opinions split, which an average rating hides.

Where complaints come from

Complaints in 1–2 star reviews sorted into product problems, use or expectation mismatches, and shipping or out-of-box defects when the top reviews include them; otherwise the negative side of Amazon’s aspect summary, with the sample’s limits stated.

Listing changes with evidence

Three points to stress in the title and bullets and three to fix or explain, each with the mention counts behind it.

Aspect counts are Amazon’s own summary in the product details (all reviews, counts as Amazon reports them). The last column counts the same aspect in the 8 top reviews retrieved.

4.4 stars, but durability splits buyers

Every aspect in Amazon’s summary is labeled positive except durability: of 2,222 mentions, 1,328 are negative and 894 positive. Amazon’s own summary says some buyers report it stopped working within three months. That is the question to answer on the listing.

Cleaning is praised, but not by everyone

Ease of cleaning has 1,972 positive and 840 negative mentions, about 30% negative, the highest share after durability. In the top reviews it only drew praise (5 of 8), so the complaints sit further down the review list.

6 of the 8 top reviews are about other models

Only 2 of the top reviews are for this 2.5L ASIN. The others cover 3.0L, 3.8L and 4.2L models and the OasisMist warm-and-cool unit, which share the listing. A review analysis has to check which variant each review is about.

The most helpful review is a 3-star one about a different unit

With 194 helpful votes, the top review by votes is a 3-star 2023 review of the 4.5L OasisMist: it never got a 286 sq ft room above 61% humidity. Quiet operation was the most consistent praise (7 of 8 top reviews).

Every figure was checked against the product details and review responses saved from this run. The 8 top reviews are the sample Amazon shows first, not all reviews, and 6 of them were written for other variants of the same listing.

How it works

  1. Read the product details

Title, price, star rating, rating count, star distribution, Amazon’s review aspect summary and Best Sellers Rank.

  2. Read the top reviews

Stars, date, text and helpful votes for the reviews Amazon shows first, including whether each one is about a different variant.

  3. Count by aspect

Praise and complaints are sorted by aspect and counted. 1–2 star complaints are grouped by cause when the sample includes them.

  4. Turn it into listing changes

Three points to stress and three to fix or explain, each with the counts behind it.

What it cannot do

It reads the product details and the top reviews Amazon shows, not the full text of every review. Aspect counts come from Amazon’s summary; top-review counts are a sample. It does not detect fake reviews, and it does not include sales data beyond what Amazon shows on the listing.

Questions

How do I analyze Amazon reviews?

Look past the average rating: check the star distribution, the praise and complaints per aspect, and the reasons behind low ratings. Paste an ASIN into Nolyn and it pulls the product details and top reviews and returns those with counts, noting when the top reviews contain no 1–2 star reviews.

Is there a free Amazon review analyzer?

You can view the example and prepare the brief without an account. Running it requires signing in; new accounts get 100 credits. Each run uses credits for the AI and the Amazon data it retrieves.

What does an AI review analysis tell you?

Which aspects buyers like, where complaints cluster, and whether low ratings come from the product or from missing information. In the humidifier example, quiet operation was praised almost everywhere while durability drew more negative than positive mentions.

Can I analyze a competitor’s reviews?

Yes. Any public product works, yours or a competitor’s. A competitor’s most common complaints are candidates for what your listing can promise and prove.

Does it check fake reviews?

No. It summarizes what reviews say and flags reviews written for a different variant, but it does not score reviews for authenticity.

Which marketplaces are supported?

Amazon.com (US) and Amazon.co.jp (Japan) are available in the form.
