How much are Mercari fees in 2026?
Mercari US charges sellers a flat 10% selling fee on the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays, with no payment processing fee (since January 6, 2025). A $25 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping pays $3.00 and $27.00 reaches you before the label. Buyers pay a separate 3.6% Buyer Protection fee. Fees checked on Mercari's Help Center on 2026-10-27.

Mercari US fees the calculator uses
Mercari reintroduced a seller fee on January 6, 2025, after a period of charging buyers instead. Its Help Center lists one selling fee and no separate payment processing fee, so the math is a single percentage.

Mercari fees at common price points
Two ways to ship: the buyer pays $5 shipping, or you offer free shipping and pay the $5 label yourself. "You keep" is after the fee and the label, before your sourcing cost. Charging the buyer $5 for shipping leaves you $4.50 more than free shipping at every price: the 10% fee takes $0.50 of the $5.

The same $25 sale on six US marketplaces
A $25 item with $5 shipping paid by the buyer, before postage and sourcing cost, on each platform's official US fees. On Whatnot the buyer's shipping pays for Whatnot's prepaid label, but processing is still charged on it. Poshmark buyers pay a flat $6.49 for a prepaid label straight to Poshmark, so the seller receives no shipping money there and pays no postage.

Three things that change your Mercari payout
Free shipping comes out of your pocket. On a $10 item, paying a $5 label yourself leaves you $4.00 instead of $8.50: half the sale. Free shipping works on items where the label is a small share of the price.
Price for the fee before you list. With an $8 sourcing cost and $5 buyer-paid shipping, $14.18 is the lowest price that keeps a 30% margin; with free shipping and a $5 label it is $21.68.
Instant Pay is a cost per withdrawal. $3 per transfer is 12% of a $25 sale if you cash out after every sale; the free ACH direct deposit, once a day, avoids it.
How to calculate Mercari fees
Add the item price and buyer-paid shipping
That is the base of the selling fee. Free shipping means a smaller base, but you pay the label.
Take 10%
That is Mercari's selling fee. There is no extra payment processing fee.
Subtract the label and your sourcing cost
What is left is your profit per sale. The buyer's 3.6% Buyer Protection fee does not come out of it.

What percentage does Mercari take in 2026?
10% of the completed item price plus any shipping the buyer pays, under the fee structure Mercari US introduced on January 6, 2025. There is no separate payment processing fee.
Does Mercari charge a fee on shipping?
Only on shipping the buyer pays. A $25 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping pays $3.00; the same item with free shipping pays $2.50, but you buy the label.
What is Mercari's Buyer Protection fee?
A flat 3.6% that buyers pay on the item price and shipping at checkout. It covers refunds, returns on qualifying items and support, and it is not deducted from the seller's payout.
Does Mercari charge to cash out?
ACH direct deposit to a checking account is free, once a day; a $2 fee applies only to a failed transfer. Instant Pay to a Visa or Mastercard debit card costs $3 per withdrawal, up to $600 a month.
Are these the fees for Mercari Japan?
No. This calculator uses Mercari US fees. Mercari Japan is a separate marketplace with its own fees in yen.
