YouTube channel analyzer

YouTube channel analyzer: what a channel posts, and what actually gets watched

Enter a channel link or @handle. Nolyn reads the channel, its recent long-form videos and Shorts, calculates the upload rhythm and median views for each format, and shows which topics carry the channel, with the numbers behind each one.

What you get

Rhythm and reach by format

Uploads per month and median views for long-form videos and Shorts separately, so a few viral Shorts do not hide how the main videos perform.

Views relative to audience

Median views per 1,000 subscribers: a quick check of whether the channel's subscriber count still turns into views.

What gets watched

The best and weakest recent videos with topics and formats, what the weak ones share, and three content opportunities for a brand.

Example: Owala on YouTube

Views, likes and comments come from YouTube's video details at collection time. The Videos tab and the Shorts list show views rounded as YouTube displays them, which is how the medians on this page are computed.

Millions of views, almost no likes

12 of the 30 newest uploads in the Videos tab are 12–31-second product spots with over a million views each. “Meet The Owala Bags” has 5,774,798 views but 38 likes and 14 comments, a like rate of 0.0007%. The data does not say where views come from; numbers like these usually mean the spot also ran as a YouTube ad.

Organic reach lives in Shorts, at a modest level

The 48 newest Shorts have a median of 4,900 views (1,200 to 94,000), about 166 views per 1,000 subscribers. The best one, “That new Owala feeling”, reached 94,770 views with a 2.06% like rate, four times the next Short.

Cleaning how-tos keep pulling views

Nine “How to clean your Owala” videos, 27 to 53 seconds each, have 10,000 to 200,000 views (median 34,000): about seven times the median Short. Practical answers to a question owners search for keep earning views long after a launch post.

Long-form is nearly absent

Only two of the 30 newest Videos-tab uploads run over a minute: a 2023 space stunt (62,373 views) and a 4:54 artist collaboration posted 12 days before the run (1,130 views). A brand in this space has room for longer how-to and comparison videos.

Every figure was recomputed from the saved YouTube responses of the run. The Videos tab returned view counts in a localized, rounded format and the Shorts list carries no publish dates, so this example does not state a Shorts upload rhythm. Whether views come from ads is not in the data; the like counts make it likely for the product spots, and the page says so instead of treating those views as organic.

How it works

  1. Read the channel

Subscribers, number of videos and the channel description.

  2. Read recent uploads

Up to 30 recent long-form videos and the latest Shorts, with publish date, views and, where YouTube shows them, likes and comments.

  3. Calculate

Upload rhythm, median views per format and views per 1,000 subscribers, with the number of videos behind each figure.

  4. Explain what works

Best and weakest videos, what they have in common, and three content opportunities.

Limits

Only public channel and video data. Nolyn cannot see YouTube Studio analytics such as watch time, retention, click-through rate, traffic sources or revenue. Like and comment counts are missing when a channel hides them. Figures describe recent uploads at the time of the run; older hits are not included unless they are among the recent videos.

Questions

What does a YouTube channel analyzer show?

Public performance of a channel: how often it uploads, how many views its recent videos and Shorts get, which topics perform, and how that compares with its subscriber count. It cannot show private YouTube Studio data such as watch time or revenue.

Why separate long-form videos and Shorts?

Shorts often get far more views than long-form videos on the same channel. Mixing them makes a channel look stronger or weaker than its main videos really are.

Can I analyze a competitor's channel?

Yes, any public channel. Comparing two channels with the same request shows differences in rhythm, formats and reach on equal terms.

Is this YouTube channel analyzer free?

You can read the example and prepare the request without an account. Running it requires sign-in; new accounts get 100 free credits, and each run uses credits for the AI and the YouTube lookups.
