Influencer vetting: a pre-partnership checklist for any TikTok or Instagram creator

Price
Free plan: 100 credits, no card. The TikTok sample took 26 credits; an Instagram check of the same creator took 53, because Instagram needs more lookups.
What you get
A pre-partnership checklist with verifiable facts and items to confirm for each check: recent performance, concentration in a few posts, past brand posts, fit with your brand, comment clues, and a list of what to ask the creator.
Coverage
Any public TikTok or Instagram account, in any country. Private accounts, Stories and native analytics (audience country, age, gender, reach, watch time) are not available. There is no fake-follower score or fraud verdict.
Time to report
Usually 4–6 minutes.

How do you vet an influencer before paying them?

Check the creator's last 30 posts for steady views, how much depends on a few hits, which brands they already post for, whether their content fits yours and what the comments talk about, then ask for native analytics for the rest. In Nolyn's November 5, 2026 sample, @iamtabithabrown had a median of 55,300 views across 30 TikTok posts, the top 3 brought 35.7% of views, and 1 post carried a partner hashtag. Public data cannot prove or rule out bought followers, so the result lists facts and open questions, not a verdict.

Paste a creator's profile link before you pay for a post. Nolyn reads their last 30 public posts and a sample of comments, then returns a checklist with two parts in every row: the facts you can verify, with the posts behind them, and what still needs confirming with the creator. It gives no risk score, and it never says an account is fake, because public data cannot prove that.

What the checklist covers

Stability of recent performance

Posting rhythm, longest gap, median views, the middle half of views, lowest and highest across the last 30 posts, and median views as a share of followers.

Concentration in a few posts

How much of the views and engagement came from the top 3 posts, and the median without them, so one viral video does not set your expectations.

Past brand work

Posts with #ad, partner hashtags, paid partnership labels, product links, brand tags or discount codes, with each post's views against the account median. The checklist says whether each one is disclosed or only inferred.

Fit with your brand

Topics, language and tone of the recent posts compared with your brand. It is based on the content, because public data has no audience demographics.

Comment clues

Counts from up to 50 comments on each of three posts (about 15 on Instagram): specific or generic, repeated word for word, questions about buying, and whether the creator shows up. Counts only, with no commenters named.

What to confirm by hand

A list of what to ask the creator: native analytics screenshots, audience country, age and gender, past campaign results, exclusivity, usage rights and disclosure.

Example: pre-partnership check of @iamtabithabrown on TikTok

A real run on November 5, 2026 for a made-up plant-based snack brand. Tabitha Brown is a verified public creator, chosen because the account is public and has labelled brand work. Nothing here suggests a problem with the account: this is what the checklist looks like for any creator.

Recent performance30 posts from Aug 9 to Nov 2, 2026, 2.47 a week, longest gap 7.0 days. Median 55,300 views, middle half 37,100–103,625, lowest 10,400, highest 394,100. Median views are 1.06% of 5,194,549 followers.Views a sponsored post gets may differ from these. Reach, watch time and repeat viewers come only from the creator's native analytics.
ConcentrationThe top 3 posts brought 35.7% of views and 39.1% of likes + comments. Without them the median is 50,600. 20 of the 30 posts sit between half and double the median. What the top posts have in common, and whether a brand post can be planned in that format.
Past brand work1 post has a partner hashtag: #ChasePartner on Sep 14, 37,400 views, 0.68× the median. 5 posts link to a product (necklaces and body mists). 6 captions tag or hashtag the creator's own brands, @tabandchance and Donna's Recipe.Commercial terms behind the product links, paid work older than Aug 9, and results of past campaigns.
Fit with the brandAll 30 captions are in English. For a plant-based snack brand: 1 of 30 captions mentions food (the avocado in the Chase post). The bio names two of the creator's own brands.Captions are not the videos: food can appear on screen without a mention. Older posts were not read. Conflicts with the creator's own brands need asking.
Comment clues123 comments read of 2,027 shown across three posts (46 of 1,054, 48 of 881, 29 of 92). 1 is emoji-only and 6 repeat another comment in the same thread, punctuation aside. None of the 123 is from the creator.A sample of top comments, not the thread. Replies were not read, so the creator may answer inside them.
AudiencePublic data shows no audience country, age or gender.Ask for a screenshot of native analytics: top countries, age, gender and reach of the last sponsored post.

Views as TikTok's web data shows them, rounded to the nearest 100 above 10,000. Followers are the exact profile count. Middle half = 25th to 75th percentile. No pinned posts were among the 30.

A steady account with some big hits

The account posted 2.47 times a week with no gap above 7.0 days. The top 3 posts brought 35.7% of views, and the median only moved from 55,300 to 50,600 without them, so planning around the median is safer than planning around the hits.

The labelled brand post sat below the median

The one #ChasePartner post had 37,400 views, 0.68× the median. One post says little about how a sponsored post will perform, which is why past campaign results stay on the list to ask for.

Fit is a question the numbers cannot settle

Only 1 of 30 captions mentions food, but captions are not the videos. For a snack brand, the next step is to watch the posts and ask the creator, not to read more from the numbers.

Every figure was recomputed from the saved TikTok responses of the run: the profile, three pages of posts and three comment lists. Comment figures are counts only, and no commenter is shown. The run cost 26 credits: 8 for 8 data lookups and 18 for the model. A test on the same creator's Instagram took 53 credits; its figures are not shown here.

How it works

  1. Paste the profile link

Add a TikTok or Instagram profile link and, if you want the fit check, your brand or product.

  2. Nolyn reads public data

It reads the profile, the last 30 posts and comments on three of them: the highest-viewed, one near the median and the latest brand post.

  3. You get the checklist

Each row separates verifiable facts from what needs confirming. Nothing is scored or graded.

  4. Confirm the rest with the creator

Use the list of questions to ask for native analytics, past results and contract terms before you pay.

Who uses influencer vetting

Brands about to pay a creator

Check one creator before a paid post or a long deal, so the fee rests on median views and not on the follower count or one viral video.

Agencies with a client shortlist

Give the client the same checklist for each creator, with a link behind every number and a clear list of what the creator still has to send.

E-commerce teams starting with creators

See which brands a creator already posts for and how close their content is to your product before you send samples or agree a rate.

What public data cannot show

Public data cannot prove or rule out bought followers, bought views or fake engagement. Nolyn does not give a fake-follower percentage, a fraud verdict or a risk score, and no ratio of likes to views proves anything: unusual numbers have ordinary explanations, such as a repost, a paid boost, a niche audience or a change in format. Nolyn cannot see native analytics, audience country, age or gender, reach, watch time, Stories, deleted posts or undisclosed deals. Comment figures come from a sample of top comments, and spam from other accounts can land on any popular post without the creator's involvement. Figures describe the last 30 posts at the time of the run.

Questions

It is checking a creator before you pay them: whether their recent posts get steady views, which brands they already work with, whether their content fits yours and what they can show you from their own analytics.

No. Public numbers cannot prove or rule out bought followers or engagement, so Nolyn gives no fake-follower percentage and never calls an account fake. It shows the numbers and tells you what to ask for. Native analytics from the creator, shared live or by screenshot, tell you more than any outside estimate.

Only of public social content. It reads the creator's recent posts, labels and comments. It does not look at identity, criminal, credit or employment records, and you should not use it for those.

A single score would hide what it is based on and could unfairly label a creator. Each row shows the numbers, how many posts they rest on and what is still unknown, so you make the call.

A screenshot or live view of native analytics with audience country, age and gender, the reach and watch time of recent posts, results of past sponsored posts, plus their terms for exclusivity and usage rights and how they disclose paid posts.

Yes, for public accounts, with less to read. In our test Instagram returned about 15 comments per post and 28 usable posts instead of 30, some without caption text, and shares were public on only 2 posts. The checklist says how many posts and comments each figure rests on.

Run one creator at a time here. To find creators first use the influencer search, and to measure posts after a campaign use the influencer campaign report.

You can start free: new accounts get 100 one-time credits, no card required. One analysis like this uses about 26–53 credits, so the free credits cover about 1–3 runs. Paid plans add monthly credits.

To run it, yes: sign in with Google. It is free and asks for no card. You can read the example and fill in the form before signing in.
