Etsy fee calculator: listing, transaction, processing and Offsite Ads fees (US, 2026)

· Nolyn research team

Enter your item price, the shipping you charge and your costs to see every fee Etsy deducts from a US order: the listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee, the payment processing fee and, if the sale came from Etsy's Offsite Ads, the 15% or 12% ad fee. You get your payout, your profit and the lowest price for the margin you want. The fees come from Etsy's own policy pages, read on October 26, 2026, and everything runs in your browser.

How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?

On a $25 item with $5 shipping, a US seller pays $3.30 in Etsy fees (11% of the $30 the buyer pays): $0.20 listing fee, $1.95 transaction fee (6.5% of item plus shipping) and $1.15 payment processing (3% + $0.25), so $26.70 reaches you before postage and product cost. If the order came from an Offsite Ad, add 15% ($4.50), for $7.80 in fees. Rates from Etsy's policy pages, checked 2026-10-26.

Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy (last updated October 5, 2026) and its Etsy Payments Policy (July 31, 2026) set these fees for a shop whose bank account is in the United States. Fees are listed before any tax Etsy may charge on its own fees.

A $25 item with $5 shipping paid by the buyer, before postage and product cost, on each platform's official US fees. Poshmark buyers pay a flat $6.49 for a prepaid label straight to Poshmark, so the seller receives no shipping money there and pays no postage.

Three things that change your Etsy fees

Shipping is not free money: the transaction and processing fees apply to the shipping you charge, so charging $5 shipping on a $25 item adds $0.47 in fees before you buy the label.

Sales tax raises the processing fee only. Etsy collects and remits US sales tax, but the 3% processing fee is charged on the total including tax: with 8% sales tax, the $25 + $5 order pays $1.22 instead of $1.15.

Offsite Ads can take more than your margin on cheap items. At $10 with $5 shipping, a 15% Offsite Ads order pays $4.13 in total fees, 27.5% of the order, and the ad fee alone is $2.25. The cap of $100 per order only matters above $666.67 at 15% or $833.33 at 12%.

How to calculate Etsy fees

  1. Add the listing fee

$0.20 for each listing, and again each time a multi-quantity listing renews after a sale.

  2. Take 6.5% of item price plus shipping

The transaction fee includes the shipping and gift wrap you charge, not US sales tax.

  3. Add payment processing

3% of the full order including tax and shipping, plus $0.25 per order, for a US bank account.

  4. Add Offsite Ads if the sale came from one

15% (12% for shops past $10,000 a year) of item plus shipping, up to $100 per order. Then subtract postage and product cost for your profit.

Questions

What percentage does Etsy take from a sale?

About 10–12.5% of what the buyer pays for a typical US order without ads (9.9% on a $100 item with $5 shipping, 12.5% on a $10 one): 6.5% transaction fee on item plus shipping, 3% + $0.25 payment processing on the total with tax, and the $0.20 listing fee. An order from Offsite Ads adds 15% (12% for larger shops), which brings it to about 25–27.5%.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the 3% processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge, and Offsite Ads fees do too. On a $25 item, charging $5 shipping adds $0.47 in fees without Offsite Ads.

Can I turn off Etsy Offsite Ads?

Only while your shop has made less than $10,000 in sales over the past 365 days. Once you reach $10,000, the fee drops to 12% but participation is required for the life of the shop, even if sales fall later.

Is the Etsy listing fee charged again when an item sells?

For a listing with several in stock, yes: Etsy renews it automatically at $0.20 after each sale. A single-item listing pays $0.20 when listed and again only if it renews after four months.

Does Etsy charge a fee to open a shop?

Etsy's policy says sellers may have to pay a one-time set-up fee, shown and charged during shop set-up and non-refundable. The policy page does not state the amount, so check it at sign-up.
